That’s David Letterman describing the Jenna Bush wedding this past weekend, the funniest comment I saw.
His opening, from the same monologue, wasn’t bad either:
“Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen. That’s very nice of you. … Really, that makes up for not being invited to Jenna’s wedding. … At the reception, President Bush danced with his lovely daughter. It’s the first time he has led in eight years.”
Has any President every been so universally despised and ridiculed, even when there’s one of those family things that usually means people cuts him a break?
I’ll tell you how bad it’s gotten. I went to the Post Office today and there was one of those Lyndon LaRouche tables set up out front. I haven’t seen one of those in years and things have changed a bit.
Instead of seeming outright crazy and dangerous, the guy behind this one was just outright crazy and funny. And, you know what, this Administration has been such a fiasco that he almost made sense, waving a book at me with Dick Cheney’s sneering face and the cover and screaming “these people are Satan! They want to start a war with Iran right now!”
Really, how far off was he?
